Chanelling Sarah

I have done the 60's.....17 years ago to be precise. I got it out of my system, along with lame, gold thread, flares and fringed skirts.

Then I discovered Sarah's blog @ Misfits Vintage ......and somehow this dress made it's way from eBay UK into my little hippie hands.

And I think it's fabulous.

The comments this dress has generated outweighs anything I get in my flouncy florals. A ego boosting bargain at only $15.

So, altho I won't be throwing my cupcake dresses aside in favour of hippie boho anytime soon (I have promised the husband, he is beside himself thinking that I'm starting to prefer leather fringe to floral), it's nice to know that when I am in the mood for a little freelove, then I have a few pieces to choose from.

And may I introduce the star of the show.....my FABULOUS new shoes from Miss L Fire's new collection. I've worn them the last 3 days running, even around the house.

And of course, bakelite is always jingling away.

Thanks Sarah for always looking so utterly divine! And reminding me why I chose the 60's and 70's back wayyyyyy back when I was a teenager to get started into Vintage with.    It rocks!

China Glaze Refresh-mint

See what a week off from nails does? They turn into witches talons! They will be getting a serious chop down tonight.

Two coats of China Glaze Refresh-mint and stamped with China Glaze Adore. Finished with a coat of Seche QD. This was made to match the dress that I featured yesterday.

Thank you so much to all my wonderful followers who expressed sympathy and quick get well wishes over me being sick yesterday! It's so nice reading them all, especially when I'm coughing hard enough to snort brains thru my nostrils.

Thanks guys! xx

A Horrible, Horrible Week

Oh my goodness, what a week the Hall's have had! I have been the sickest I have even been in my life, with a record 6 days straight in bed unable to function racking my guts out. Husband was also sick AND the Mother in Law which meant Miss 10 and Miss 3 almost had to fend for themselves had it not been for my 78 year old Grandparents coming to help out and a very good friend, Miss Kelli Brown, dropping in baskets full of homemade cooking.   Thanks soooo much Kelli!
Miss 3 then came down with an ear infection, went on anticiotics and promptly had an all over head to toe rash reaction from the antibiotics....we found out she is allergic to penicillin!! The Mother in Law had to be taken to hospital for suspected deep vein thrombosis and she is still too sick to move from there. In the last few days we have been in the Hospital ER 3 times and the staff know us all by name......
I really do urge everyone to have a flushot as this year's flu strain is an absolute KILLER and you definitely do not want this if you can help it. I have never been bedridden sick before and I honestly couldn't move for 6 days.

I do feel well enough today to get up, boot up the computer, read hundreds of emails, catch up with FB and read my blogs! What's the news?? What did I miss???!

It's Spring! And the weather is just starting to turn nice. Time for pretty frocks again! Yay!

This 50's pure silk circle dress is especially pretty, just puffed out slightly with a not so fluffy crinoline.

Lots of bakelite to complete, of course.

So, I'm now back on track and will resume regular posting from now on! Hope you all had a great weekend.

OPI Man of La Mancha & SH Real Royal

So many pictures here but as you all know, cameras tend to spaz out trying to capture Man of La Mancha.

I started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Real Royal, an almost black chocolate brown with shimmer.

Quite nice by itself. But I was on a layering experminent so I added 1 coat of OPI La Mancha.

These 2 pics are taken at night under artificial light. See what happens in natural sunlight:

Bottom line: It's super dooper nice but not quite worth the $20 I paid for it on eBay. Ozotic multi and duochromes are much nicer, in my opinion, have a much clearer color shift and cost less than half of OPI.

Flying Dragon, Mummy May I & Bad Romance!

Yep, all in one manicure!
I'm sick, cough, cough, cough, cough, so this post is short and sweet.

China Glaze flying Dragon is a gorgeous color but it needs a top coat to do it justice. As you can see, it dries matte which doesn't bring out the gorgeous red and blue glitter.

Ring finger is 2 coats of Mummy May I and a thin coat of Bad Romance so I get could some of those hex glitter included.

Stamped with Warm Black Konad and finished with a coat of Seche QD.

Bloom Miss Connie II

This is one of my favourite polishes. From Australian brand Bloom, and this is 2 coats. The formula is perfection, the color is divine and looks great with my skin tone. It is one of my go to reds.

Stamped with Warm Black Konad and finished with a coat of Seche QD.

The black really darkens it.....as you can see below it's quite a BRIGHT red!

Love it.

Ulta3 Foxy Russet & Bernie Dexter

OK, I bought this just for the name. It reminded me of an Austin Powers name. Probably something I would pick if I had to be a Bond Girl.

The color itself is a little boring. Nice, but boring. Two coats.

So because this is such a boring color post, here is some bakelite to make you all feel better!

Jingle Jangle!
