Nubar Verde

This baby was another on my wish list and when arrived was a little disappointing. The color is gorgeous, but I already have one the same: Zoya Edyta. Comparison coming tomorrow.

Two coats. Formula perfect, as Nubar tends to be. I am a Nubar groupie.

Stamped with China Glaze Metallic Muse.....not really a fan of this manicure. It lasted till the next afternoon.

Yay or nay?

Orly Bubbly Bombshell V's Nubar Petunia Sparkles

I knew Bubbly Bombshell would be similar, if not the same to Petunia Sparkles before I bought it.  But because Petunia Sparkles is my second favourite nail polish of ALL time, I figured a dupe wouldn't be all that bad.

Left to right:  Petunia, Bubble, Petunia, Bubbly.
As first glance they are dupes.  BUT Petunia was 2 coats and Bubbly took 3 coats and really needed a 4th.  Bubbly has different sized glitter thru it and the formula is quite watery.  Petunia's glitter is all the same size and thick in texture.

Petunia Sparkles is ALWAYS on my toenails.  Without fail.  The color is gorgeous, the sparkle divine and my toes make me happy whenever I look at them!

And one more time cause it's so damn purty......

So, you guys have probably guessed that I prefer Petunia right?  It somehow just LOOKS nicer.  I also loathe anything over 2 coats so a 3+ coat glitter formula doesn't make the cut when I can have the same thing in 2.  Nubar win!  (Thank goodness cause I have several backups of the stuff!!)

ChG Skyscraper Vs Chi Chi Moondust

While cleaning out the nail polish drawers again I found several polishes almost similar.  I'm not sure if these comparisons have done the blog rounds but...anyway...here are some more.

2 coats each and left to right:  Skyscraper, Moondust, Skyscraper, Moondust. In natural sunlight with flash.
The bottles are almost similar but on the nails you can see that Moondust is a darker blue base.

In shade and no flash.

My personal preference is Moondust.  It's perfect in 2 coats whereas Skyscraper needs a 3rd to become fully opaque.  I also love the darker blue Moondust is offering.   Availablility is not possible out of Australia with Chi Chi, unless you are swapping with an Aussie blogger.   If you are not Australian and lusting after Moondust, then my guess is that you would be just as happy with Skyscraper.

A Why Bother??

I steer clear of neutral nail polish. It's boring.
Who wants to see nude, neutral nails?? Or as The Sexiest Man On The Planet calls it: A Why Bother Manicure?

But, I recently got a bottle of OPI Bubble Bath and decided to try it on....and I loved it. Two coats of it made my nails look long, elegant, posh, mannequin like and I reveled in it for 3 whole days.  Much nicer than my photos show.

After 3 days I did French tip stamping with Warm Black Konad.

So, I guess now I am officially converted. Why Bother nails can actually look quite nice.

OPI Grape Set Match

The online swatches for this color looked gorgeous so it made it to my Wish List pretty quickly. Last week I got a bottle of it and here it is on me in the shade with no flash:

Beautiful in the shade! But in the sun it becomes a little, teeny, tiny bit ho-hum:

And stamped with China Glaze 2030. Gold over purple is my bestest color combo.

In the shade.

And in the sun.

Til tomorrow!

60's Makeover with FB!

Fiona-Brooke has expressed a desire to go Vintage. So we set off on a trip to discover what Era she looks good in.....makeover time!

OK, this is her before photo. Yes she's gorgeous, but as everyone knows.....in Vintage you look doubly gorgeous!

I decided that because she is ridiculously skinny, she would suit a 60's look nicely.
Flicking thru my hairbooks, we found a Jacki O hairstyle that looked relatively easy for my little novice fingers to acheive and would look best for her short hair.

What I did:
1. Hot curled her hair under and set each curl with a duckbill clip while it cooled.
2. When cool, I let all the curls free and back combed or 'teased' from the top to the middle of the crown. This created the back 'poufiness' Jackie was famous for.
3. I then hand formed little curls on the top of the head. Swept her finge into a side curl and handformed a little kiss curl at the end of her fringe.
4. HAIRSPRAY!!
5. Created a nice, matte flawless finish on her face with concealer and powder. Candy apple red blush and sparkling gold on her eyelids.
6. Her winged eyeliner I made very thick and dramatic as FB wears glasses.
7. Filled in her eyebrows with a Brunette pencil.
8. FB has thin lips, so I went to the very outer of her lower lipline with the liner and created a cupid bow on the top.
9. She dressed in her brand new Vintage old 60's brocade wiggle dress and did The Flamingo!

Here are a couple of other dressup photos we did. You will recognise some of them as they are all from my wardrobe.

She did need to pull them in at the waist as I am grossly fat compared to her little waist (witch).   Just to get back at her and hope she puts on at least a kilo, I made her eat THIS:

My wonderful recipe of Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie, with cookies ice-cream, maple syrup and a strawberry.  I then gave her the rest of the pie to take home.....ha ha.

This was my first makeover and I am very proud to report that I only burnt FB's face and ears 3 times. And she only needed a cold water compress for one of them! What a clever little chook am I!

Red Green Color Shift Franken #2...I Can Haz 230???

Is this anything like Clarins 230?  Anyone who has a bottle think it looks something similar?

This time I added a couple of tiny scoopfuls of my red/green pigment into a third of a bottle of clear and made a topcoat. I think this is the ideal way to go as you can then turn any color into a color shift and make the pigment last a lot longer.

Ready for lots of pics?

These ones above are taken in the shade with no flash. The red to green flash is much more apparent as a top coat than with the pigment mixed into a color base.

With flash in sunlight.

It was 1 coat of Franken topcoat over 2 coats of Essie Little Brown Dress.

How is everyone elses color shift frankens going?
