Comparison: Nubar Forest & Nina Ultra Pro Salsa

I recieved these 2 polishes in the same week from swaps and they are both as gorgeous as each other. Only subtle differences but just enough to warrant a comparison test.
Nubar Forest is on my pointer and ring finger, Salsa is middle and pinky.

Depending on your light at the time, Salsa is a slightly lighter green. My photos were all taken under artificial light at night time. Nubar never fails to impress me with their formulas and colors. All the unique colors in my collection are Nubar. This is my first Nina Ultra Pro and am also impressed with it's formula and it was perfect in 2 thin coats.

In conclusion, both are wonderful, non gluggy creme formulas and perfect in 2 coats with just enough of a color difference between them....so I say just get both if you are a Forest green lover like I am!



On a whole different note altogether, my daughter Isabelle got her braces off yesterday! Isn't she gorgeous and lookee at those perfect chompers!

Swap with Carina & Lincoln Park@Midnight

Carina from gildednails.blogspot.com and I swapped a few bottles last week and she was a very naughty girl and sent me UNREAL stuff! She sent me colors she knew I wanted like OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight, The Show must go On, Bring on the bling, CND Jade Sparkle, an Nfu-Oh rip off bottle of Scandal and some Le Beauty's!

Even tho I had The show must Go On which I am dying to try, I wanted to try LPAM even more so here it is with 2 coats. In sunlight it is obvious I should have added a third but indoors it looks fine. I was in a non Konading mood last night so I just added a couple of nail stickers and 1 coat of Seche QD. First pic is in sunlight, last 2 are under artificial light.

OPI Sparkle-icious

This was one polish I had to get regardless of what color it was due to it's name....sparkle-icious & konad-licious....get it? OK. My wonderful swap buddy Carolina from coloresdecarol.blogspot.com sent this to me and it arrived today! Thanks buddy!

I never liked Mad as a Hatter (Argh, don't flame me, that hurts!) but I DO like Sparkle-icious lots and lots. The glitter is bright and colorful and shines bling like you wouldn't believe. You don't believe me? Well, just check out the video below!

This was 3 coats of Sparkle over 1 coat of Ulta3 Lollypop Lilac and 1 coat of Seche QD to make it nice and smooth. First pic is in full sunlight, last 2 are under artificial lights.

Heli-Yum on Speed!

I was feeling the need for flakies after seeing Jen's Barielle Elle's Spell swatches yesterday, thepolishaholic.com/2010/10/barielle-winter-2010-holiday-hustle.html, so of course Hidden Treasure had to come out for a play. This was 1 coat of HT over 2 coats of China Glaze Heli-Yum, which is a bright berry pink red! It also looks awesome mattified but I wanted some shiny bling.

For Audrey With A Cherry On Top

First of all...I'm an Aunty again!
My youngest sister had a girl early this morning, Emilee Le'Clare Morris! She has vowed NEVER to go through labour again...but don't we all???
Some family trivia: My parents wanted a son somewhere in their final mix of offspring, but they got 3 girls and now 5 grand-daughters! What are the chances?!

Onto the nails. For Audrey gets pulled out quite often and after Hidden Treasure over the top being my favourite, I like it best with Red. This was 3 coats cause we all know Audrey really is a mongrel to apply even if it is gorgeous. Red Konading from the Bundle Monster plates with a stripe of red glitter and 1 coat of Seche QD.

I have a few pictures for you in my VERY limited knowledge of applying makeup. I really want to take some lessons but unfortunately just don't have the time so you will have to make do with my best attempts!



This eye look was using SKIN OF A KILLER as the base, STARRY NIGHT along the outer corner and along crease and BLUE DIAMONDS as the highlight on the inner corners.



This is my most favourite eyeshadow color to date: NATURE and it's just divine. This picture was taken with Nature over Shelly's primer on the eyelid. I *think* I used WHOA in the crease. Nature actually increases in sparkle 3 fold once brushed on over her Foiling Solution. I just love it and it really makes my blue eyes POP!


Left eye: A very, very light dusting of PETROL along the crease, RUBY CAVE as the red in the inner corner and SKIN OF THE KILLER as the base. PETROL is a super Jet Black with gold sparkles so I tested this initially with no primer and a very small smidgen on my brush...yes, I'm a bit of a chicken!
Right Eye: SKIN OF THE KILLER as a base then NATURE in varying shades on the eyelid, corner and crease. That's what I love about Nature, you can change the color dramatically with how much you use.

I have also been using her Flawless Mineral Veil which was made to "Absolutely erase blemishes and lines and help diffused look to it. It isn't shiny, but will will give you a soft, youthful glow for a beautiful skin ".
Since using this I have stopped using loose mineral foundation. This does make my tiny lines disappear around my eyes and it makes my skin more "Vintage" porcelain which is the look that I am after (above picture). I now only use a little concealer on any breakouts and my Flawless Veil powder.
You get 20g and you only need a *little* bit on your brush, so this jar will last you ages.

China Glaze Ick-A-Body

After my devastating nail rip yesterday I really needed some glitter to make myself a little happy. It happened opening a jar of vegemite for goodness sake! Who rips off a nail opening a jar?!
I have swapped my photos to my little nubbins left hand until my poor middle fingernail grown back again.

Anyway, this was 3 coats of China Glaze Ickabody. 2 coats could have passed but the black jelly looked a little watery in places so 3 compacted everything nicely. I added an orange rhinestone on each nail and added 1 coat of Seche QD.
As with most glitter packed polishes, it chips rather easily and a few hours later I had a couple of small chips on my tips. Otherwise it looks awesome.
