60th Wedding Anniversary
Today is my Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary!
I am afraid that their generation might be the last to celebrate wedding anniversarys of this length, seeing as every 2.2 marriages out of 3 now end in divorce. Attitudes have changed and couples don't seem to be bothered to tough out the hard times as much as they once did.
My Grandma wore orange blossoms in her hair and in her bouquet. I wish she still had her dress, the satin bodice and covered buttons looks divine. It was tiny, even after 2 kids she had a tiny waist.
Who else has grandparents or family celebrating huge wedding milestones this year?

I think my husbands grand parents have been married for over 65 years. They were married at a very young age around 16 I think. They squabble but love each other a lot.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to them! :) My grandparents were married 51 years. 'Til death did they part.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your adorable grandparents! 60 years is quite an accomplishment. My hubby and I are coming up on lucky number 13...if we make it to a 60th anniversary we'll be so old we won't know what's going on :-))
ReplyDeleteCould happen, though! We'll give it a try!
My grandparents 53rd wedding anniversary is actually tomorrow! I agree, I think that the newer generations ideas about marriage and commitment have changed. I look at my grandparents and hope to someday have what they have found in each other :) What a sweet post and a beautiful photo :)
ReplyDeleteYou look just like her! :)
ReplyDeleteSadly I've lost all my grandfathers and both sets of great-parents, so now it's just my two grandmas. Actually one of my grandmothers divorced my grandpa loooong ago, but my other grandma never loved another after her husband's death, wouldn't even think of it. I know how it feels to lose the one that you love, but they were together for so long, i doubt I would've been able to recover either
ReplyDeleteWow, 60 years is really a long time. Congratulations to your grandparents!
ReplyDeleteYay for the 7th of June. It is our wedding anniversary today too! We're celebrating 15 years today. I sure hope we make it to 60 years too.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's grandparents had their 68th last year, but both died soon after, age 90.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to them .Its my grandparents 54th wedding anniversary later this month .
ReplyDeleteFelicidades para ellos!
ReplyDeleteUn beso,

What a beautiful couple. I can't even imagine the amount of love and respect a marriage that long creates. My first marriage ended on a very ugly note (but the son he had is rather cute). I think it would be so womderful if long-term commitments were values again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to your grandparents! Unfortunately mine are no longer living, but my grandparents did celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary when I was younger! And my own 1 year wedding anniversary (after 10 years together) is in about week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo to have of them on their special day, and 60 years ago at that. :)
