We LUV The Mill Markets! There is one in almost every Country Vic town surrounding us and we always buy a bargain in there somewhere.
The Mill Market in Geelong is especially big and the top floor is stuffed with clothes. The kids go feral trying on shoes while we fossik.
A few shop views....the place is massive. Unfortunately the clothes are all 1970's to present.
Miss 10 thought this sign was perfect for me.
I managed to find, at long last, some kitchen canisters that I liked and were in excellent condition.
And the baragin of the day: this once only owner, in almost mint condition laminate table with 6 matching chairs. My gasp of pure lust was heard within the entire shop and one old man came to see if all was OK.
Even making kitten eyes, begging, looking wistfully at the husband, and promising lots of wife-y things did nothing to move him. Apparently we have NOWHERE to put it, and a 6 seat sitting is useless when we need 8 chairs. And apparently, I WILL live and eventually 'get over it'.
He said I could have a pink mixer instead, to which I scoffed. How could a 50's pink mixer possibly compare to a matching laminate table set?? A setting in mint green and rose pink with killer lines?? And ALL the matching chairs??? The agony of it all......
Anyone in Geelong want to courier this up to me in secret??
Mixer vs table set.... Yeah, the table wins. Definitely! But the mixer is pretty fantastic in its own right. I have one but it's white. How boring! I'd rather have that pink one! :)
ReplyDeletePink mixers are so much better than white ones...butnot better than 50's laminate tables :(
DeleteOh my that is amazing! I saw a beautiful set very similar in a tiny little shop in Franklin, Tasmania. Quickly texted pics to the bf as it was going to be $350 INCLUDING shipping to Melbourne (score!) but apparently the Mr is not a fan of that style.
ReplyDeleteI whinged and moaned too.
But now we're getting a table top made by my father out of solid jarrah which will definitely be a worthy substitute!
That mixer sure is cute! Been wanting to pay a visit to Mill Markets for ages but have not had the chance.
$350, for real?? I would have snapped that up super quick. This setting was $1050, which I thought was reasonable. Which shop was it??!
DeleteI'm in Geelong, although this could be a challenge, lol.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Mill Markets, I live right around the corner from the big one in Newcomb and spend many a weekends getting lost in amongst it all.
OMG the table and chairs are killing me. We have a similar dining setting BUT IT AINT PINK. And as we girls know, everything is better in pink.
ReplyDeletewhat happened to ur baby girl she looks so serious
ReplyDeleteLOL! She had just had a tantrum and was in the middle of still hating us!
Deletehehehe I imagined that :) hopefully she is now In a better mood :)
DeleteOh my, I'm jealous of all market. We don't have anything like that here, in Bristol. The vintage shops do not offer too much and I hate that sometimes they shorten the dresses....
ReplyDeleteLove looking in place like that. I remember a friend of the family used to have a kitchen table like that. Different chairs but the table looked the same. My Mother had that same brand mixer except it was white. She made some pretty damn amazing cakes, cookies & mashed potatoes in it. Love the canister set.
ReplyDeleteOh wow this place looks like heaven on earth!! I would love to go shopping there!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that place looks like a goldmine. O__O I want to go to there...
