ChG Holographic Confusion...I need Help! EDITED

Edited to add: Update again, for those who care to know!
It matches all online pics of TTYL! So my bottle off BFF is actually mislabeled and should have been TTYL. Thanks again to all!

I was cleaning out my stash today (I know, I know, but it was getting to be a necessity) and I found 2 bottles of China Glaze BFF....in different colors!
Wha tha?

As you can see from the pics that they are not really remotely close in shades and I also included TMI in the picture, far right, to show that it's closest to that color, but even then not close at all....clear as mud??!

I bought the bottle of BFF on the right first as a single from Trans Design about 10 months ago. This color is exact to shades I have seen posted on the web on other blogs and on Google images.

The bottle on the left was purchased off eBay 2 months ago and came in the boxed set of 6 COOL colors, it hadn't been opened and arrived sealed. This boxed set came from the Netherlands.

Now, my question is this: Would the Netherlands have received a different shipment of colors than the rest of the world?
The rest of the 5 colors were correct and unchanged. If anyone knows the answer or this subject has been discussed on a forum somewhere, can you please leave a comment with the link?

Many thanks!

  3. I have BFF too and mine is like your right bottle. So I suppose this is the "real" color. But it's really bizarre.

  4. How odd is that! Mine looks more like your right picture too, no idea what color the left one is.
Afaik we don't have any different CG colors over here, but my CG all come from other countries so I'm not sure though.

  5. Wow! The plot thickens! Can't wait to find out what this mystery color actually is??

Have you tried matching it to any colors in the kaleidoscope collection?? Maybe the labels and the bottles were miss printed/marked ?

  8. i think I've heard something that some bottles aren't the same color. Maybe different batches?

  9. hmmm... maybe one of the polishes is a fake...

  10. I'm from the netherlands myself, and I don't know what the f*** is going on here, haha! the netherlands gets the same collections as everywhere else, so this is really really weird... maybe it was just a production fault or something, because Dutch people aren't really famous for faking nail polish :)

  11. The other one looks like QT.
My guess is they mislabeled it.

Or it was the lone escapee from an effed up batch, and you have some miracle color that nobody else has. *__*
I know it sounds farfetched, but isht happens.

But I think the first scenario is more likely

  12. It looks like QT! I have QT and it looks the same as the left one. May have just got the label wrong. Whoever packed your items would only look at the label not the colour in the bottle

  13. OK, looks like I have a mislabel. China Glaze must have done it in factory packing tho, as the box came sealed. Weird.

Thanks to all who took the time to dig thru and compare it for me. I didn't previously have QT so it's nice to know I came about it by 'accident'!!!

  14. I think the magenta one is a mislabeled QT too :)

  15. I swatched BFF when I first got it and it was pretty and pink - 6 months later it is now the red version - somehow time changed it. I'm going to try and add some non acetate to it and change it back

  16. Sarah. Really? Have to go and Google QT images now. Sigh.

Lisa. That's weird. Was your sitting in the sunlight or something similar?

  17. OK, update! I have Googled QT and the bottle I have looks nothing like the online Google images of QT or TMI.
I think what I have here is a BFF tat has discolored due to some strange reason. Maybe it was affected by extreme heat or sunlight....I dunno. I think swatches are in order!

  18. Fascinating. I just purchased a bottle of BFF from a blog sale. I thought the color looked a little "off" in the photo, but I realize some cameras capture colors differently and really didn't question it. When it arrived it looks nothing like the BFF swatches I have seen anywhere, but it does look a lot like YOUR BFF on the left. Hmmm. Interesting to read the comments and wonder if it is a mis-labeled bottle of TTYL or if it is a "Bad" batch of BFF or discolored over time. The blogger said she got it in a dusty hunt, so I wonder if it sat someplace warm. There is no linear holo when you angle the bottle like other shades in the OMG collection either. This is certainly interesting to me. But I'm a little sad too, that it appears I don't have the BFF I was hoping for.
