Do You Wanna Swim With The Fishes??
The Sexiest Man On The Planet looooooooves Koi fish. Our fountain, which you will see photographed in outfit posts regularly, is full of brightly colored Koi fish in various sizes. There is also a big metal net all around the water as those pesky Kookaburras love to sit there and try to eat them. I digress....look at my dress!!
The husband wanted this dress from Bernie Dexter because of the Koi. I never knock back a husband approved dress, but I don't think it's the best dress for me. The bodice emphasises my rather large boobs and the shoulder straps are too thin for my bras, hence the bolero.
What do you think? Honest opinions please!

I love the dress!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the breast it makes you!
Really nice!
I really like the koi print, but I also think that the upper part is not as flattering on you as it should be. What a pity because otherwise it looks really nice on you.
ReplyDeleteI really like it. But how does the skirt hang?
ReplyDeleteShame about the straps though. You don't want to have to wear a bolero all the time...
The shoes are perfect with it.
I really like this! Such pretty fabric and the choice of red bolero is perfect. I'm betting your husband likes the emphasis on your nice "features". :)
ReplyDeleteHave you considered wearing a clear strap bra? I am big busted too and finally found one that fits a few years ago. It's not perfect, but might draw less attention and give you an option to wear it without your bolero jacket and feel less self-conscious.
I love this dress!! Straps that don't hide straps are the worst, though. :/ Even so, hurray for big'uns! lol
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about altering it? I've had similar issues with items in my own closet and sometimes I'll just change the straps. Depending on how they're made you might even be able to reuse the fabric. If that's a no-go or if you really dislike the top as a whole, you could also consider removing the bodice entirely and just keeping the skirt. It's a bit of work but when I go that route I just tell myself that a skirt is more versatile anyways, and it beats leaving something so lovely to languish unworn in my closet. :P
ReplyDeleteI love it, really looks nice on you..I bet you'r husband isn't worried about it making your boobs look too big! Probably why he choose it ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks AWESOME on you! I think it makes your waist look even tinier and your boobs look totally fab! WINNER! - Mandy in Atlanta
ReplyDeleteI love it! It does seem a little snug across the bust but I really wouldn't ever have noticed it if you didn't point it out. (Maybe since I sometimes have that problem myself.) And the pattern is very plain across the bust, so it's not like you have a koi eyeball somewhere, er, obvious. It's a gorgeous dress!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore that dress!! Your husband has great taste! In fact I'm thinking about getting that dress for myself (as soon as the exchange rate is in my favour again).
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think it looks fine, even with your busty figure... sigh, dresses just don't fit the same on me!
ReplyDeleteI love you in that dress! You (and the girls) look great!
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! Your boobs look great in it ;-PP Husband approved dresses are always awesome huh ;-P
ReplyDeleteI think it's a beautiful dress. I like it with the bolero and the shoes are perfect.
ReplyDeleteomg, what a dress ... you look adorable in it.

The dress looks lovely - well done with the bolero, it does make it look a lot better!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the bust issue until you pointed it out, but yeah, it does emphasise the area. It's such a fabulous dress, though. I can think of a few options to fix the issues you have with it: always wear it under jackets or jumpers/cardis that de-emphasise the area (bonus feature: disguises the bra straps); sew in butterfly sleeves to the shoulder straps (to fix the bra strap issue - maybe little half circles of contrasting/matching fabric would do it); modify the bodice (maybe take it to a tailor to do this - if you unpicked and used the middle bodice part to cut out the same shape in a red and sewed it back in, and left that top part, so that you had the decorative skirt, waistband, block of rich red, and then the decorative blue water/sky part next to the straps the strong colour would probably de-emphasise the boobage); or cut off the top and turn it into a skirt.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun mental exercise! In your place, I'd probably just keep wearing it, but save it for around the house where I didn't feel self-conscious about its minor flaws. ;)
It looks beautiful (lovely colours), though I see what you mean by the boobage issue. I've had similar problems. It's not that obvious, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteI think you look awesome in this dress :) The bolero ties it all together nicely!
ReplyDeletegreat outfit!! you look so pretty :)
ReplyDeletewhat about to follow each other? :) Let me know..
xx

It's a cool dress, but I think you may be right about the top (the curse of us busty ladies!)
ReplyDeleteI actually think it's the most beautiful and flattering dress on you. It's lovely! And I thought that before I read the comments. The red bolero is stunning with it, it looks spectacular on you and the bust and waist is lovely. I have just bought some Bernie Dexter dresses (yet to receive) and hadn't even considered this one. Might have to re-think!
