Recent Vintage Finds

I found a gorgeous 50's lambswool coat in an Op shop, which fits me wonderfully.

A pile of 40's and 50's knitting pattern for 50c.

A few spice canisters for $10. Maybe I'll find the rest someday.....

A lady gave me this for free at a garage sale. It's not drop dead gorgeous but still a nice little 60's brooch.

I'm in love with these 50's handpainted glasses I found for $2 each. I sooooo wish the rest of the set were there.  Again, maybe one day I will find more of them!

A vintage birdcage wicker purse/bag. I have wanted one of these since forever, but have seen these bags for sale on Etsy for up to $150. Mine cost....... $1.

This 50's micro mosaic bracelet arrived to me in the mail as a gift from a lovely follower of this blog. She gifted it to me from her Mother's jewellery box after she died recently. I was deeply touched to receive it and love it to bits.

And I love this vintage cane basket I picked up yesterday for $2 at an op shop.  It came in very handy when struggling with library books!
What has everyone else been thrifting lately?

  1. I have something similar to the cane basket. My came from Mexico. I love the rigidity of it. Makes keeping all my knitting stuff together.

  5. I cleaned up (partially) a 1900's Singer sewing machine in original 7 drawer cabinet. It is treadle operated in working order. I've got more cleaning to do on it. :)

  8. I've actually been to a thrift shop today :) It was really nice. We found some cool stuff for our new apartment. Lots of buttons, a glass casserole (I think that's what it's called lol), 2 really cool candlesticks made out of forks, 3 whiskey glasses etc! I also got some really pretty blue and white china from my grand dad :)
Tomorrow we're going to another thrift shop :D

Your post sooo makes me want to go thrift shopping...I just moved from a place that had *amazing* thrift stores to a place where they aren't so hot. I'm missing my old stomping grounds so much I'm almost thinking about taking a road trip back there just to go thrift shopping!
