Polkadots have been ruined by becoming a Rockabilly/50's cliche.
Wanna look try hard? Wear a polkadotted halter necked dress.
I like to think I don't look cliched in this ORIGINAL 1950's dress!
The collar doesn't quite stand up on it's own so it needs help with me constantly pulling it up and doing a little cliche try hard Rockabilly face as well.
I'm going red haired this week! Wish me luck!
50's day dress: Likewise Vintage
Shoes: Sandler
Belt: Thrifted
Bakelite: Etsy, eBay
Fabulous dress and I just love the red accent accessories. Imo nota cliche look at all ^_^
ReplyDeleteRed lifts anything too boring in color!
DeletePolka dots maybe over played but they look great on everyone especially you. I want a red x black polka dot dress but the fabric is really hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI thought that fabric would be easy to access. Maybe try online?
DeleteIt is but it's like $8 a yard for it. I'll wait a while and see if I don't get lucky at the thrift stores.
DeleteMy favorite print of all time! and I love it paired with red!
ReplyDeleteThanks Aleta!
DeleteI am a sucker for a polka dot print - I just can't help myself! Can't wait to see you flame haired!
ReplyDeleteI'm scared!
DeleteThe dress looks amazing! Well good luck with red hair, it's a lot of work! I have red hair as well but my parents are pushing me to become a blonde again, otherwise they said I can never dye my hair again :(
ReplyDeleteBasically just make sure you wash your hair in water as cold as possible (as cold as you can take, warm water makes the pigment of your hair come off faster), don't let the shampoo sit; put it in your hair, make it foam and wash it right out and always use products for colour treated hair!

Thanks for the tips Eva Lynn, hopefully it all turns out ok!
DeleteI love the last picture, you look fab! Can't wait to see the red, I've been many colors myself but always go back to red, it's my go-to color. I have a vintage polka-dot dress as well, but don't wear it that often for just that reason. I can wear every other 50's style apparel, but when I pull that one out suddenly I'm Betty-Boop!
ReplyDeleteBetty Boop was the analogy I was trying to think of!
DeleteOh Im so excited to see your red hair! I don't think you look cliche I love polka dots. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the red!!!! I love polka dots but I definitely can't pull it off :( I'll just continue being jealous instead
ReplyDeleteEveryone can wear polkas SC!
DeleteYou look sensational and not the teeniest bit cliche at all. I know what you mean though, I sometimes feel that way if I wear a vintage ensemble involving cherries, too.
ReplyDelete♥ Jessica
I don't care about looking cliche with cherries, cherries are my absolute fave!
